Leaving behind a better world
The most sustainable asset is the one that lasts. At ALLTER, we believe corrosion protection should extend the life of critical infrastructure while reducing its impact on people and the environment.
Inspired by a material that never stops adapting
Sometimes the most advanced solutions start with a remarkably simple material principle.
Polyisobutylene — PIB — is known for its exceptional ability to remain flexible, tacky and highly resistant to the passage of moisture and gases. Its properties have made PIB valuable in applications ranging from chewing gum base to long-term sealing technologies.
One particularly demanding application is insulating glass. For decades, PIB-based primary sealants have been used around double-glazed units to help prevent moisture and gas from passing through the edge seal. The principle is simple: the seal must remain effective while glass, frames and surrounding materials continuously respond to changes in temperature and pressure.
It does not rely on becoming harder.
It relies on remaining flexible.
ALLTER applies that same material philosophy to corrosion protection. Our Allter Visco-Rite™ technology uses the permanently visco-elastic characteristics of PIB to conform intimately to steel and complex geometries, maintaining a protective barrier rather than behaving like a conventional rigid coating.
Where conventional coatings are engineered primarily to cure, Allter Visco-Rite™ is engineered to remain responsive.
Material intelligence, applied to corrosion protection.
Flexible. Conformable. Hydrophobic. Permanently visco-elastic.
Protect longer. Replace less.
That starts with smarter material choices, safer application and protection systems engineered for long-term performance. Our technologies are designed to create and maintain an effective barrier against moisture and corrosion, helping to prevent corrosion from spreading beneath the protective system.
By protecting rather than replacing, we help preserve valuable steel assets, reduce maintenance and minimize the consumption of new materials and resources.
Sustainability FAQ
What does sustainability mean at ALLTER?
The most sustainable asset is the one that lasts. We believe corrosion protection should extend the life of critical infrastructure while reducing its impact on people and the environment. Protecting rather than replacing preserves valuable steel, reduces maintenance and minimizes the consumption of new materials and resources.
How does ALLTER reduce the environmental impact of corrosion protection?
Through smarter material choices, safer application and systems engineered for long-term performance. Allter Visco-Rite™ is based on polyisobutylene, a pure, food-grade material that does not cure, so it needs no primer, no mixing and no heat, and can be applied with less surface preparation than conventional liquid coatings.
Why does extending asset life matter more than the coating itself?
Replacing a pipeline, tank or structure consumes far more steel, energy and resources than protecting it. Our technologies are designed to maintain an effective barrier against moisture and corrosion for decades, so the asset stays in service and unnecessary maintenance, replacement and resource consumption are avoided.
Is ALLTER Visco-Rite™ safe for applicators and the environment?
Product safety, user-friendliness and environmental responsibility are engineering criteria for us, not afterthoughts. Allter Visco-Rite™ is a one-component, non-curing PIB system: no solvents to mix, no exothermic reaction and no curing chemistry during application. As with any industrial product, the product data sheet and safety data sheet define the applicable handling requirements.
Does less surface preparation make a system less durable?
No — it changes where the durability comes from. Rigid coatings depend on mechanical anchoring into a blasted profile; a permanently visco-elastic layer depends on intimate, continuous contact with the steel. That allows appropriate hand or power-tool preparation such as bristle blasting where abrasive blasting is impractical, while the required preparation standard is always defined per project.
Can ALLTER rehabilitate an existing coating instead of replacing it?
Yes. Rehabilitation is an important application area for visco-elastic technology. After assessment and appropriate preparation of the existing surface, Allter Visco-Rite™ provides a new corrosion protection system without necessarily requiring the preparation and application conditions of conventional liquid coatings. It is compatible with PE and PP coatings.
What is 'Protect longer. Replace less.'?
It is our future-proof concept in four words: combine durable protection with smart material choices, practical application and long-term performance, so existing infrastructure is preserved and the cycle of repeated repair and replacement is broken.
Longer asset life. Less waste.
