ALLTER TIMES BLUE IS NEW Coffee is an essential part of the daily routine for millions of people around the
world. One of the most significant innovations in the coffee industry has been the development of advanced coffee machines.
Coffee is an essential part of the daily routine for millions of people around the world. One of the most significant innovations in the coffee industry has been the development of advanced coffee machines. Jura has established itself as a leading player, thanks to its state-of-the-art machines that have revolutionized coffee making.
Jura is a Swiss company founded in 1931 in Niederbuchsiten. In the early 1980s, the company made a strategic decision to enter the coffee machine market. One of the most innovative features of Jura machines was the built-in grinder, allowing users to grind coffee beans fresh for every cup, ensuring optimal taste and aroma.
Jura machines enable users to prepare a wide range of coffee drinks, from simple black coffee to cappuccinos and lattes, all at the touch of a button. By introducing new technologies, Jura has raised the standard in the coffee industry.
EXPLANATION Like Jura, we do not claim to produce everything. However, we do claim to understand corrosion prevention when it comes to polyisobutylene-based solutions.
For us, the moment of truth is in the field. Protecting assets requires a deep understanding of steel metallurgy, environmental conditions, service life expectations, cathodic protection, stray currents, specifications, and application conditions.
Allter Visco-Rite™ is based on pure polyisobutylene (PIB). We deliberately avoid unnecessary additives — similar to drinking black coffee without milk or sugar.
Polyisobutylene does not crosslink, cure, harden, or break. It has no crystallinity, and the glass transition temperature is below -60°C.
Polyisobutylene is a transparent, pure, food-grade material. For cold-flow control, a filler and blue colorant are added. There is nothing to hide — we stay true to the raw material.
Allter Visco-Rite™ provides 100% self-healing in case of minor damage, according to ISO 21809-3 testing for field joint coatings.
As manufacturers, we produce high-quality rolls with smooth inner and outer surfaces to prevent air entrapment during application.

Our mission is clear, Doddema says: “We want to offer every customer the best and cleanest solution and we put our heart and soul into achieving this.”
peaktime, home to the world’s exclusive hand powertools capable of a revolutionary process akin to ‘sandblasting’. Doddema: “Our patented technology ensures swift and thorough removal of corrosion and coatings, presenting the powertools of MontiPower® as a game-changing alternative to traditional methods, ensuring everlasting peaktime”.
In this union, we go beyond traditional corrosion prevention. We don’t just aim for peak performance, we elevate it to an: “Everlasting Peaktime”
Everlasting peaktime Prepare to redefine your approach to surface preparation with everlasting
Powertools MontiPower®’s Bristle Blaster® and MBX® tools employ a patented technique that transforms surface preparation. The key lies in a rotating brush with specially designed, curved bristle tips, imparting kinetic energy akin to traditional sandblasting. What sets these tools apart is the innovative ‘accelerator bar.’ Positioned strategically, it momentarily holds back the bristle points during rotation, ensuring they make forceful contact with the metal surface. This dual-action not only efficiently removes dirt, rust, and coatings but also leaves a micro-impression, serving as an optimal adhesion surface for subsequent paint applications. Doddema: “MontiPower®’s Bristle Blaster® and MBX® redefine surface treatment, offering a powerful combination of simplicity and effectiveness for everlasting peaktime results.” These tools not only clean surfaces meticulously but also create a foundation for enhanced adhesion and enduring coatings.
Minimizing our environmental footprint. In the battle against rust, surface preparation is key, and at MontiPower®, we’re redefining the game. Say goodbye to hazardous blasting methods that contribute to a staggering 12%* of oil pollution in our seas. MontiPower® champions the principle of ‘prevention rather than cure,’ advocating for responsible surface preparation practices. *When a pipe corrodes, it’s prone to substance leaks. This reaction can persist unless preventive measures are taken. To prevent pipeline incidents, construction professionals must develop sustainable monitoring and maintenance solutions. Luckily, there are methods to reduce pipeline corrosion that you can apply. There are two types of pipe corrosion: internal (causing approximately 12% of leakage and connection damage incidents) and external (accounting for about 8% of pipe breakage incidents).
3 — Allter® coatings: time for change
How to bring together the best, most experienced anti-corrosion experts from all over the world in a single team? How to make our dream come true and offer our planet a new, future-proof concept for better, sustainable protection against the consequences of corrosion? A shared, unifying mission and vision has made this dream a reality; the time is here to change how we protect durable assets. Introducing: Allter®. We coat the world with an alternative solution.
ALLTER® THE ALTERNATE FOR STEEL PROTECTION Fight against water The Netherlands is known for its continuous battle against water. This environment shaped the development of advanced sealing technologies. In the 1980s, inventor Frans Nooren developed watertight sealing systems, leading to the creation of Stopaq® in 1988. Frits Doddema subsequently joined Stopaq in 2005 to help broaden the fields of application. Furthermore, based on his background in the curing of industrial liquid coatings, he felt that in many cases, people unfairly blamed coating failures on the quality of surface preparation and means of application. Doddema assembled a dedicated team of specialized cathodic protection and coating professionals, and along with his colleagues, created many problem-solving patents, like for underwater coatings. Sander Hofstee joined in 2008. The team of Allter® has been supplemented by innovators and coating professionals who are pioneers in the field of surface preparation and sustainability of oil, gas and water pipes and infrastructure projects both on and offshore.
The goal of the Allter® team is to make the best possible alternative contribution to a more sustainable world through the preservation of assets such as windmills, bridges, quays, jetty piles, risers, pipelines, railways, marine vessels and steel or concrete structures. The alternative solutions are usable for: • Above-ground infra • Underground infra • Pipeline reinforcement • C.U.I. and fireproofing
4 — It takes one idea to make a difference
IT TAKES ONE IDEA TO MAKE THE IMPOSSIBLE POSSIBLE Allter®’s Visco-Elastic Coating Systems are BASF Oppanol Polyisobutylene-based for corrosion prevention. The blue compound, which can be applied from a roll, as a sheet, patch, by injection, or by spraying, is a unique, pure food-grade material enriched with natural ingredients as a filler. It is harmless and has no shelf life. The glass transition temperature is below -65 degrees Celsius. This means it can become hard and brittle, but when the temperature rises above -65 degrees Celsius, the properties become fluid-like again. The material
adheres to any substrate based on Van der Waals forces, except water, air, and silicone. Therefore, you will notice that the release foil is siliconized. In the case of compression by pipeline tape, shrink sleeve, or other compressive wraps, such as the Self-fusing High Temperature Allter Tape™, the material will ooze out in the event of small, minor damage to the system. It is selfrepairing and won’t allow any corrosion undercreep or other forms of disbondment, such as cathodic disbondment.
No primer required Resistant to AC/DC and stray currents Self-healing in case of minor damage No cathodic disbondment Excellent corrosion protection Compatible with various topcoats without solvents

5 — Q&A with Dutchwerk™
Q&A How does your company provide corrosion protection for oil/gas pipeline assets? The Allter® Prevention Group from Belgium (with JV offices in the UAE and Mexico, and distributing partners in Korea, South Africa, Brazil, France, Switzerland, India, and China), offers various kind of corrosion prevention and sealing solutions for pipelines. These include CUI for plant piping, line pipe coating on-site, riser piping, offshore and onshore field joints and aboveground piping work, with a wide range of coatings. Today, all over the world more than 40 corrosion engineers are active on a daily basis to engineer
solutions. Dutchwerk is a contractor brand of Allter® that installs coating systems, including surface preparation. Strongpipe is another Allter® company, carrying out pipeline reinforcement. The Dutchwerk team apply this composite technology to reinforce pipelines based on our patented vacuum-controlled system.
Explain a technology that you use to protect pipelines.
The rolls come in different thicknesses and with different backings. Aboveground the backing is nonwoven, which can be coated with a special, stress-free, one component topcoat. ‘Do it right, do it once, but with ease’ is our credo.
For CUI and hot piping, Allter® makes use of polysiloxanes for hot piping, but Allter® also makes use of pure polyisobutylene, known as Oppanol, from Basf as the basis ingredient for Allter Visco-Rite™. Allter Visco-Rite™ comes

the requirements of pipeline service life. Allter® offers more than 60 years service life against corrosion.
Allter Visco-Rite™ is a product and system to rely on. This coating type does not require loose abrasive blasting. Per square metre, a contractor can save circa 45 kilos of grit, plus the removal cost as chemical waste, if the contractor goes for the prefab coating in a roll form called Allter Visco-Rite™. In the case of new build pipelines, mill scale must be removed. Allter® promotes the use of 43 mm MBX® brushes for pipecleaning. as a prefab roll which can be cut to size for underground (also for condensating pipe), aboveground and subsea applications.
Allter Visco-Rite™ range of products, based on polyisobutylene, which come as a putty, filler or roll do not require loose abrasive blasting according to the ISO 8501-1. St 3 removal of any loose rust or coating particles is enough in case of maintenance and spot repair, as long as prep work withstands the quick 5 mins cleanliness check at ambient temperatures. We recommend the use of isopropanol as a degreaser and
cleaner before a dry application. The cleanliness test is the most important. Just take one piece from the roll: the rule of thumb is that if the piece exhibits a cohesive failure to the cleaned substrate with 5 mins at ambient, then the cleanliness grade was sufficient and reliable for continuation of the protective coating job.

BORN READY Redefining Corrosion Prevention For decades, the industry has accepted corrosion as an unavoidable reality, something to manage, repair, and repeat. At Allter®, we believe this mindset is outdated. Corrosion should not be managed. It should be prevented at its core. This belief drives everything we do. We are not just developing coatings. We are building a new approach to corrosion prevention — based on material science, field performance, and long-term reliability.
Our Visco-Elastic technology is not another variation of traditional systems. It represents a fundamental shift: from systems that degrade over time to materials that remain stable, self-healing, and predictable. But technology alone is not enough.
This is not just about protecting steel. It is about protecting infrastructure, investments, and the environment for generations to come.
What makes Allter® different is the combination of deep field experience, engineering expertise and a global network of partners. Together, we are creating a new standard.
It will be transformational. And Allter® intends to lead that transformation.
A standard where maintenance is reduced, failure is minimized, and sustainability is improved.
We are only at the beginning. The future of corrosion prevention will not be incremental.

18 — Casing filler: protecting pipelines
PROTECTING PIPELINES WHERE IT MATTERS MOST Underground steel pipelines are protected against corrosion by means of Cathodic Protection (CP) systems. These systems work extremely well on the outside surface of buried pipelines and are essential for maintaining the integrity and long lifetime of oil, gas, water, and industrial infrastructure.
compound used to completely fill the annular space between the carrier pipe and the casing pipe. Once installed, the filler creates a protective barrier that prevents water accumulation, oxygen ingress, and corrosive conditions inside the casing. The system contributes to:
• Road crossings • Remote or confined work areas The Allter® solution includes: • Hot-applied casing filler installation • Professional end sealing systems
However, special attention is required at road crossings, railway crossings, and other critical infrastructure crossings. In these situations, the carrier pipe is often installed inside a larger casing pipe to provide additional mechanical protection against external loads and ground movement.
• Proper venting design for complete filling
• Enhanced cathodic protection performance
• Full turnkey execution by experienced specialists
• Elimination of water pockets and air gaps
The result is a reliable, fully sealed casing system designed for decades of protection.
This creates an annular space — the gap between the carrier pipe and the casing pipe.
If this annulus is left untreated, moisture ingress, oxygen, condensation, and trapped electrolytes can create an ideal environment for corrosion. In many cases, cathodic protection currents cannot properly reach or protect the carrier pipe inside the casing. As a result, the casing crossing becomes a high-risk area for hidden corrosion and long-term integrity problems. That is why Casing Filler systems are so important. What is Casing Filler? Casing Filler is a specially engineered hot-applied
• Reduced maintenance and inspection costs The Allter Mobile Solution Allter® from Belgium has developed a highly efficient mobile turnkey casing filling solution, specifically designed for difficult access locations and smaller casing projects often found in urban environments. Instead of using large trucks or trailer-mounted systems, the Allter® mobile equipment is compact, tailor-made, and perfectly suited for: • Inner-city projects • Restricted access locations • Railway crossings
Continuous Work for the Allter® Team Pipeline operators across Europe increasingly recognize the importance of proper casing management and corrosion prevention. As a result, casing filler applications have become continuous and ongoing work for the Allter® Team. With expertise, specialized equipment, and a strong focus on quality and safety, Allter® continues to support pipeline integrity programs throughout the industry. And nowhere is this momentum more visible than in France. Viva La France!
