Project: storage tank chimes, Korea · Scope: steel-to-concrete transition of above-ground tanks · System: Allter Visco-Rite™ 70W / Allter Visco-Rite™ Putty / Allter Seal™ 100HB.
The chime, where the tank shell meets its concrete foundation, is the classic weak spot of a storage tank. Water collects there, the steel is hard to inspect, and conventional sealants crack as the tank breathes with temperature and product level. The Allter system turns the chime into a permanently sealed, self-recovering water run-off skirt.

Surface preparation
Minimum ST2 (hand tool clean) or ST3 (power tool clean) on the steel, degreased and cleaned with isopropanol. The concrete base was hydro-cleaned. Irregularities at the transition are filled with Allter Visco-Rite™ Putty so the wrap sits without voids.
1. Allter Visco-Rite™ 70W — the run-off skirt

Allter Visco-Rite™ 70W is applied by removing the release liner and placing the adhesive side onto the object, covering both the steel body of the tank and the concrete. Because it bonds to both substrates and stays visco-elastic, it acts as a water run-off skirt: water is shed away from the chime instead of being drawn into it.
2. Allter Seal™ 100HB — mechanical and UV barrier

Allter Seal™ 100HB is applied over the Allter Visco-Rite™ 70W as the mechanical and UV protective barrier. It gives the chime a clean, inspectable finish that withstands foot traffic and weathering while the visco-elastic layer underneath does the sealing.
Why this works
A tank chime moves. Rigid coatings and elastomeric sealants eventually crack at the steel-to-concrete line; Allter Visco-Rite™ flows into the gap and re-seals itself every time the joint moves. No blasting, no curing, no hot work — the crew applied the system at ambient temperature with the tank in service.
